Black boy

How Are you feeling right now?

I’d be lying if I

Said that I am cool

I suppose, eyes

Voluntarily low

Praying more, I say

For her sake and soul

But really perhaps my own

January of this year

I almost beat my mother

Home

Because where my heart is

Tuh.

The pen bleeds and ink runs

Because I refuse

Imagine your favorite Muse

Standing in front of you, dutiful

A hand cupping her breast,

The other, tightening the noose

Smiling as tears overcome you

The lack of oxygen is beautiful.

So, Black Boy

How are you feeling right now?

I’m cool, I inhale and thank Him

Take a deep breath and

Try to not open my eyes

Concentrating on generating

clear messages

Thinking about blemishes and blessings

Forgiveness and acceptance and

Hoping I am reverberating

Reflecting, reciprocating the same

And Black Boys Love Black Girls, Until…
